Timbaland Says Britney Should Not Perform At Upcoming MTV Awards Show

Timbaland reportedly doesn't want Britney Spears to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards. The hip-hop producer - who is the event's musical director - is said to be worried Britney's comeback appearance at the awards on September 9 could overshadow the other performances.

A source is quoted by E! Online as saying: "Timbaland doesn't want her on the show. He thinks it would be too much drama, and that she is going to take away from the other performers."

Britney is thought to be in the middle of negotiations with MTV music executives about opening the show.

Representatives for MTV, Timbaland and Britney refused to comment on the rumors.

Performers already lined up for the Las Vegas awards ceremony include Timbaland, Rihanna, Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Chris Brown, Foo Fighters, Lil' Wayne, T-Pain, Cee-Lo and Daniel Merriweather.

Britney's pop comeback gathered pace last night when her new single 'Gimme More' premiered on New York radio.

The track is the singer's first new release since 2005.

You've gotta be kidding? If Britney performs at the MTV awards it's heading for disaster! We've already seen her downfall over the past year, do we really want to see her go bonkers on stage! And shes rushing into fame to quickly, the reason she went a bit mad recently is because she was too famous to young. She needs to calm down and take it easy. I think she needs to take a good couple of years off and focus on her children coz by the sounds of it Kevin is going to get custody and she cant even be bothered to sort that out. its like she doesnt care! Shes a very strange woman and will never be the same again!
