James Gandolfini was hospitalized after complaining of stomach pains.
The former 'Sopranos' star was taken to New York's St. Luke's Roosevelt hospital on Tuesday, where he underwent keyhole surgery on his abdomen.
The 46-year-old actor is now recovering from the operation at his home.
His representative said: "It was a minor procedure and he is already home."
Keyhole surgery - which is also known as laparoscopic surgery - is a technique in which small incisions are made, before a telescopic rod lens system is inserted into the body.
Meanwhile, rumors are rife 'The Sopranos' is set to be made into a movie.
The hit TV show, which ended last year after six series, ended in mystery with viewers left unsure of the fate of Gandolfini's character, Tony Soprano.
Satin Dolls strip club manager Nick D'Urso - whose establishment was used for filming - says he is postponing renovations to his business in New Jersey, after being tipped off that a movie would be made there.
However, a spokeswoman for HBO - the network that broadcasts the show - denied the claims.
