Paris Hilton used to change her hairstyles, fashion and men with each new season. But it has taken a prison sentence to change her.
The socialite, heiress and party girl has spoken to E! News host Ryan Seacrest via a telephone conversation from jail. The blonde superstar, who was laughed at during the MTV Movie Awards, says she is tired of being ridiculed and plans to change the nature of her fame once she is released.
The star told Ryan, "I'm so much more grateful for everything that I have, even just to have a pillow at night or food. You know my gratitude has gone up so much and I just realize that the media used me to make fun of and be mean about it. Frankly [I'm] sick of it and I want to use my fame in a good way."
"The Simple Life" star is expected to be released from Los Angeles County Jail by the end of June. However, the daughter of Hilton Hotel magnate Rick had to spend Father's Day behind bars and glass.
Paris said, "I am behind glass and I want to give my dad a big hug and they won't even let me do that. That's how the rules are, you have to be behind glass.
While she violated her DUI probation on at least two separate occasions, Paris says she is not a lawbreaker. She said, "I'm not a criminal, I'm not dangerous, so it makes me feel like that. It's hard but I'm stronger everyday."
A constant presence on the L.A. party scene, Paris has changed her short-term goals. She revealed that she plans to stay in and change her life once she has been granted freedom.
She said, "I just can't wait to see my family and have a nice meal and be in my own bed and appreciate all the things I took for granted and never really thought much about."
