While many actresses in Hollywood are desperately dieting and going to deadly extremes to look their thinnest, Thandie Newton is happy being healthy.
The British "Mission Impossible 2" actress has revealed that she once suffered from bulimia. The stunning mother-of-two, who is now married to a screenwriter, admitted to Easy Living magazine that she once had a body image disorder and still has physical scars from it.
She said, "I've still got the scars on my knuckles from where I put my fingers down my throat."
According to Thandie, she was throwing up her food because of bad romantic relationships. She explained, "I'd been involved with this guy for a long time, he was much older than me and I felt a lot of shame about my sexual relationship with him. I would have these dinners with him and then go back to the flat and I'd throw up. Then I went out with someone who was emotionally abusive, criticizing me the whole time."
Ironically, it was Thandie's move to L.A. that got her healthy again. The star began seeing a therapist when she arrived and kicked her habit.
She said, "I saw a therapist for the first time. After that first session, I never threw up again. I had made the connection between shame and self abuse."
Thandie came under fire in 2006 for being too thin after giving birth to her second daughter. However, the "Pursuit Of Happyness" star is currently looking stunning and happy in her skin.
