It has always been in Terri Irwin's best interest to make sure her kids are doing okay and not off in la-la land, especially after experiencing the tragic loss of their father. But when all else fails, that's when you visit a shrink.

Terri Irwin recently revealed she has seen a psychologist to help her and her children come to terms with their father Steve Irwin's untimely death.

The Crocodile Hunter's widow is concerned her eight-year-old daughter Bindi has been "too happy" since her dad died in September.

The 42-year-old met with a therapist to ask whether Bindi and her two-year-old brother Bob should receive counseling to deal with the tragedy.

She revealed, "I met with a psychologist and that's been a tremendous help for me. I asked him if everything was OK, because Bindi has been so happy. And he said, 'Why? Are you worried? That's what you are shooting for. That's what you want - a well-adjusted child who can handle a tragedy and see that life goes on.'

Although Bindi has been coping well, Terri admits Bob has found it harder to adjust to life without his father.

She added, "He really has had a much more difficult time and I attribute that to the lack of knowledge about death."

Shortly after Steve's death it was reported that Bindi would be following in her dad's footsteps and star in a wildlife TV series.

Shooting was set to start towards the end of the year, however, the proposed shows were temporarily shelved by bosses at the Discovery Kids network over fears it would be too soon after Steve had passed away.

I felt my family was always part of your family because of Steve and the wonderful way he brought nature so lovingly and naturally into our homes via the Animal Planet. Now, I feel that a beloved member of my family has passed along with Steve's passing. I do pray for all the Irwin family and relatives - those by blood - and those by love that we learn to accept this tragedy and continue the work he was so passionate about. I think by doing that, Steve and his passion will continue to live in a part of all of us. My heartfelt wishes go out to his immediate family, Terri, Bindi & Bob. May life become easier day by day. Some critize Bindi, saying she is only singing and dancing and carrying on her father's legacy because she is under pressure. But that's not true. You can see it in her eyes that she loves what she's doing, and the eyes are the window to the soul.
