David Duchovny has been granted an apology from British tabloid Daily Mail after it ran a story claiming the "Californication" star and his tennis instructor had an affair.

Last month, following the announcement that the 48-year-old actor and his wife of 11 years, Tea Leoni, were separating, the paper printed a story that suggested Duchovny and tennis coach Edit Pakay had an affair.

The estranged married couple - who announced their separation in October, following David's trip to rehab to seek treatment for his sex addiction - took their two children, nine-year-old Madelaine and six-year-old Kyd trick-or-treating for Halloween in New York on Friday.

Tea Leoni has added to rumors she is secretly dating Billy Bob Thornton. The "Ghost Town" actress - who has been separated from "The X-Files" star David Duchovny for several months - admits she got very close to the actor on set of her new film "Manure."

She said: "We have this incredible cast with Billy Bob Thornton, who is maybe my new favorite person in the world."
