Gary Barlow couldn't stop spending money when Take That split.

The 'Rule the World' singer - who has now sold his lavish mansion and doesn't even own a car - spent his time splashing out on lavish luxuries after his solo career flopped.

Gary said: "You should have seen my house! It was this whole thing of, 'I'm absolutely massive now. I'm rich.'

"We had a huge house but I was forever extending it. It got out of hand in such a big way. Such a cliché.

"The fact that I had three houses just f**king full of gear and I'd look at my bank statements and it was just all these numbers. And I'd think, 'Well, it must be right because it's written down here.' "I lost control of my life."

The 36-year-old musician, who was reunited with his Take That bandmates last year, has now sold many of his most expensive belongings.

Gary said: "I thought, 'We've got to get rid of all this.' "And I've been on a mission these last few years, shedding possessions."
