Brunei is preparing for weeks of celebrations - to mark Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's 60th birthday.
The huge public festival kicks off in the capital of Bandar Seri Begawan on July 1 with the hoisting of the national flag.
According to Associated Press, various celebrations will include fireworks displays, street processions and a tug-of-war tournament.
Officials are busy lining the streets with lights and banners and even repainting old buildings, to mark the landmark jubilee on July 15.
The oil-rich Asian nation is expecting to welcome many foreign guests, who wish to pay their respects to the world's wealthiest monarchs.
Brunei's national stadium will form the focus of the celebrations, with the line-up including musicians, cultural performers and military bands from Australia, China, Britain, Malaysia and Singapore.
Security will be tight throughout the festival and officials have already swept residential settlements for illegal foreign workers.
Meanwhile, in preparation for the birthday bash, over 200 staff from the Municipal Board took part in a thorough clean-up of the capital city on June 26.
