Unbeknownst to the public, Steven Tyler has been suffering a "silent killer" for years. The Aerosmith singer recently revealed he's had Hepatitis C for decades. Steven says even though he has been living with the potentially fatal blood infection for a very long time, he was only diagnosed with the virus three years ago.

He revealed in an interview with "Access Hollywood," "People have Hepatitis C and don't know. It's the silent killer."

The 58-year-old rocker had to endure a grueling year of interferon treatments - an antiviral drug used to strengthen the immune system.

The singer also revealed his marriage to designer Teresa Barrick fell apart during his strict treatment regime - they finally divorced earlier this year.

He added, "I've been pretty quiet about this. You know, it really hurt. It was a bad, bad period."

Tyler - a recovering drug addict - is now confident that he has been cured.

He said, "It is nonexistent in my bloodstream, it's like a complete cure."

Hepatitis C - which can lead to liver damage and liver cancer - is often transmitted through shared and dirty needles and typically affects drug users.

"Baywatch" beauty Pamela Anderson revealed she had the virus in 2002. She contracted after sharing a tattooist's needle.
