Star Jones has always been a star in her mind - perhaps thinking too much of herself at times.
The former "The View" co-host admits she hasn't been the most humble person in the world. For the most part, she's always had a "higher than thou" image of herself, but it's something she's "earned." Explain that one.
In a Tuesday interview with TV show "Extra," she said, "I've earned that diva image. It's not something that I can hide from. I admit sometimes I have enjoyed the celebrity more than I should have. It was well-earned, but it's softened now."
When in the past she would get caught up in all the "hype" of receiving free products and once boasted about her 2004 lavish wedding, now she's allegedly taken a back seat and realized she's simply been blessed.
She explained, "I was on a hit show, doing (ads for) Payless; I was getting my health together; I met Al. I started to think, 'Oooo, I got it going on!' Now I know: Everything I had was a gift."
After a nasty fallout on "The View," which caused her to abruptly leave the show in June, Star has slowly been getting herself back on track. She's a much calmer person now - somebody who is learning as she goes.
She said, "I am rejoicing in learning from my mistakes and missteps and trips and falls," she tells Extra. "I've learned that sometimes modesty and humility shows the most strength and courage. That's the Star that you see right now."
Star says she hasn't kept in touch with her former "View" co-hosts; however, Elisabeth has sent her touching Christmas cards.
