It seems like many celebrities would jump at the chance of dating a royal.

First it was David Hasselhoff trying to woo Princess Diana, and now it's been reported that Sylvester Stallone once tried pursuing Britain's Fergie.

Sources say Sylvester Stallone once asked Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, out on a date.

The "Rocky Balboa" star was rejected by the duchess in 1996 because she had only just finalized her divorce from Prince Andrew and felt it was too soon to start dating.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper, "Apparently Sylvester had a thing for royal girls. The romance never quite blossomed, but the pair remain close friends."

The 60-year-old actor is now married to his third wife, 38-year-old Jennifer Flavin.

Meanwhile, the 47-year-old duchess recently enjoyed a night out with ex-husband Prince Andrew, whom she has remained close to despite their divorce. The pair have stayed friends for the sake of their daughter's, Princesses Beatrice, 18, and Eugenie, 16.

The royal couple officially separated in 1992, shortly after the publication of notorious pictures of Sarah sucking the toes of U.S. businessman John Bryan.

The scandal caused great embarrassment to the royal family, and Sarah found herself shunned by her estranged in-laws.
