Shia LaBeouf says his recent car accident was "eye opening and terrifying." The "Eagle Eye" star - who suffered injuries to his head and knee and required "extensive surgery" to his hand after the crash in July - is still getting over the incident, which has changed his perspective on driving.

He said: "The crash was eye opening and terrifying. The car hit me at 70mph. It was one of the biggest things that's happened to me, for sure, in my life. I'm just grateful to be here."

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old actor - whose injury was written into the script for "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen" - revealed he will be having more surgery on his hand.

He said: "I'm working right now. We propped my hand together so I could get through 'Transformers' and then I'll go have another surgery and be back to 100 percent."

Shia also revealed very little of the production was affected by his injury - thanks to the movie's director Michael Bay."

He added: "Michael ploughs through. I think we had a day down, two days down, and then we got back to some second unit stuff that we had to get anyways, and I was back two or three weeks before anybody projected me coming back."
