Shia LaBeouf is an a**hole, he says so himself. The 'Transformers' star admits his folly when he was arrested in November after he refused to leave a pharmacy in Chicago.
"That was complete and utter sanity," the 21-year-old admitted to Empire magazine. "I was an a**hole, and it was a mistake I'm still completely embarrassed about it."
"But I can say this: I'm not the first 21-year-old to be arrested for a misdemeanor. There are lessons in life I need to learn, and I'm learning all of them in front of the public."
LaBeouf was arrested for misdemeanor criminal trespassing in a Chicago Walgreens when he refused to leave after being asked by the store's security guard.
"I was in the middle of a strange mind state, having just come off a three-month window of focus. I can't diminish what happened at all," the actor explains. He had just finished filming 'Indiana Jones: Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull' when the incident happened. The charges were subsequently dropped on December 12.
Coming from "generations of performers" (his mom is a dancer, his dad worked in a circus), the young actor says he enjoys working.
"I feel like a better person when I'm working - I enjoy it more than anything else in my life. And the pool party, tons of chicks, binge-drinking bull**** - that's not what I got into this for."
And despite starring in blockbuster and critically successful films like 'Disturbia' and 'Transformers,' LaBeouf insists she's just another a**hole to his closest friends.
"My closest friends work in coffee stores. They don't give a sh** about a Vanity Fair cover - I'm just another a**hole to them."
"And that's what I want: people who'll tell you you're a sh**head sometime."
