Amid reports that Shania Twain's secretary was the cause to blame for the breakup of the country singer's marriage to music producer husband Robert "Mutt" Lange, Marie-Anne Thiebaud is speaking up to deny the reports.
Thiebaud, 37, spoke to People magazine briefly over the phone from her home in Geneva to deny the report.
"I know what you're ringing to ask me about. But, when marriages break up they break up for all sorts of complicated reasons, it's never just one reason. And those reasons should be kept private."
"If you're looking for a person that broke up a marriage then you have the wrong person. I'm not that person," she added.
Thiebaud worked as a secretary and personal assistant to the couple at their chateau in Switzerland. Rumors are flying that Thiebaud and Lange have both left their spouses to be in a relationship together.
Twain and Lange married in 1993 and announced their split on May 15. The two have a 6-year-old son named Eja.
Lange described the split as 'an unfortunate thing' and said "It's literally just a growing apart, that's all."
