If you thought Scarlett Johansson has got what it takes to sing, we'll probably soon find out if she can hit thoe high notes. The young starlet has reportedly signed a record deal to show off her singing skills and venture away from acting for a little bit.
The "Black Dahlia" actress is apparently recording her first album - entitled "Scarlett Sings Tom Waits'"- at the moment and is hoping to release it next spring.
According to insiders her voice is "whispery" and she can "carry a tune nicely."
Scarlett is not the first Hollywood star to swap the big screen for a recording studio.
Recently, Paris Hilton had international success with her debut single, "Stars Are Blind," Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff have both had a string of chart hits, while Nicole Kidman has released two successful songs - both were duets, one with her "Moulin Rouge" co-star Ewan McGregor and the other with Robbie Williams.
Other actors who have hit the charts include Bruce Willis, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslett and David Hasselhoff - who is currently at number ten in the U.K. singles chart with a cover of the classic rock song, "Jump In My Car."
Perhaps the most bizarre - yet critically lauded - attempts to take the music charts by storm came from "Star Trek" actors Williams Shatner - who teamed up with Ben Folds for a cover of the classic Pulp track, "Common People" - and Leonard Nimoy, whose infamous "Bilbo Baggins" has gone on to become a cult hit.
