Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has offered her support to Paris Hilton's parents. The duchess - the ex-wife of Britain's Prince Andrew - spotted the jailed 26-year-old's parents Rick and Kathy Hilton in a Beverley Hills restaurant on Sunday, while dining out with her three godchildren.
According to a friend quoted in PEOPLE magazine, Sarah offered Kathy her "support and strength from one mother to another."
She also told the Hiltons that the experience could be "the making of Paris" and she hoped "some good will come of it."
The pal claims Sarah has also sent Paris - who was sentenced to 45-days in jail for driving with a suspended license - a sympathetic note in prison.
The friend added: "Sarah knows that you hit obstacles in life and that you can pull out of them."
Before the socialite was jailed, Sarah had said Paris needed to start accepting responsibility for her actions because of her public profile.
She said: "When I married a prince, you wake up in the morning and you have to know the minute you set foot out of that door you have to be careful of the ramifications of your actions."
The duchess has two daughters with Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, 18, and Princess Eugenie, 17.
