Salma Hayek shocked fans by announcing she is engaged and pregnant.
Fans and media alike were not aware that the one-time Oscar nominee was in a relationship at all. However, the Mexican born star has confirmed that she is expecting her first child with French businessman, Francois-Henri Pinault, later this year.
According to friends of Hayek's, the actress could hear the tick-tock of her biological clock and wanted to settle down.
A friend told Us Weekly magazine, "Salma and Francois haven't even been dating a year. They were friends for a while. The truth is that Salma is 40 years old and she's gotten to the point where she really wanted a baby. Francois treats her amazingly and she knew he would be a good father. Most of her friends barely know him! They're just really happy for her because this is what she's wanted. She's spent years with the wrong guys, but she finally found someone that treats her really well."
The "Frida" star has previously dated actors Edward Norton and Josh Lucas.
