They say laughter is the best medicine, but clearly it isn't for some people.
Despite some fans taking it all a bit too personally, Rosie O' Donnell stepped up to the plate and recently apologized to those she offended with her Asian joke.
On Thursday's "The View," Rosie apologized on camera for jokingly mocking Chinese on December 5 and upsetting several fans.
She said on the show, "This apparently was very offensive to a lot of Asian people. So I asked Judy, who's Asian and works here in our hair and makeup department. I said, 'Was it offensive to you?' And she said, 'Well, kinda. When I was a kid people did tease me by saying ching-chong.'"
"The Queen Of Nice" - who was just making humor of the situation - went on to say that she had no idea that her words would have offended hundreds of people.
She added, "So apparently 'ching-chong,' unbeknownst to me, is a very offensive way to make fun, quote-unquote, or mock, Asian accents. Some people have told me it's as bad as the n-word. I was like, really? I didn't know that."
She also said that she never meant to upset anyone, but since she's just a funny kind of gal, something like that might repeat itself in the future - just don't take any offense to it the second time around.
Of her joke, she said, it was "never intended to hurt anyone, and I'm sorry for those people who felt hurt or were teased on the playground," but added that "there's a good chance that I'll do something like that again ... Not on purpose."
The fury began over a week ago when Rosie was trying to make light of Danny DeVito's drunk appearance on the morning show, saying, "The fact is that it's news all over the world. That you know, you can imagine in China it's like: 'Ching chong. Danny DeVito, ching chong, chong, chong, chong. Drunk. The View. Ching chong.'"
