Two legendary musicians seem to relate to each other's pain and heartache. Music star Rod Stewart says he feels sorry for Sir Paul McCartney.

The Scottish rocker insists he understands the heartache Paul has been battling following his marriage breakup from wife, Heather Mills, and admits his divorce to model Rachel Hunter was a sad chapter in his life.

After being presented with the Outstanding Achievement award at Tuesday night's GQ Awards, Rod said, "My lowest point was when Rachel left. That was a bolt of lightning. It was terrible."

"Look at Paul McCartney now. I feel so sorry for him. But I don't blame Rachel. My eldest daughter is six years older than Rachel was when we first met. But it was earth shattering when she went. I wasn't prepared for it at all. I grew up a lot after that," he added.

The men's magazine awards, held at London's Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, saw Paul scoop the Man of the Year prize despite his acrimonious split from Heather.

Justin Timberlake - who recently celebrated his first number one in the UK with his single "SexyBack" - was named International Man of the Year.

Former "Doctor Who" star Billie Piper picked up Woman of the Year, while television presenter Russell Brand - renowned for his wild hair and tight slacks - was named Most Stylish Man of the Year.

Rod's fiancee Penny Lancaster presented the T.V. Personality of the Year award to Jeremy Clarkson.

Do you know why rich older men marry younger women? Because they can? Yes and young women divorce older rich men because they can...get rich. When are you fellows going to learn?

I don't understand the Laws of England at all, particularly the one that gives Heather Mills the right to sue Paul McCartney for money that she had no hand in earning.

That is one sick law, and an unfair one at that. If I worked my tail off, invested my money as has Paul McCartney, got married years after my fortune was made, then was told that I had to hand over a very large part of my hard earned investments, I'd move out of that Country. Heather Mills has done nothing to earn right to claim a penny of MCCartney's money, much less the amount being touted by the news.

If there is such a law in the United Kingdom, then the laws that we have used for so any years in the United States, which are supposedly based on the laws of our Mother Country, (England) are nothing but a farce, and so are yours.
