Richie Sambora has completed a short and hopefully successful stint in rehab.
The Bon Jovi rocker went to an undisclosed facility a week ago to deal with possible alcohol problems.
However, just days later the guitarist is back in his L.A. home. A Bon Jovi rep told PEOPLE, "Richie Sambora has completed a program at the UCLA Medical Center. He is doing well and continues to receive outside support."
The musician has had a difficult 18 months, which has included a marriage breakdown, relationship break-up and the death of his father due to lung cancer.
A source revealed to PEOPLE, "Richie has had a terrible year. I think this was a culmination of all these things and finally he realized he needed to take care of himself. He'd put off everything for so long, taking care of everyone else, it was just time to stop and deal with his issues."
Mere nights before the rehab announcement was initially made, Richie struggled through a Bon Jovi acoustic set for MTV.
