There comes a time in everybody's life when you just have to let certain things go and start anew, and for Renee Zellweger, she realized that early on in her marriage.
The "Jerry Maguire" star has opened up for the first time about her annulled marriage to country star Kenny Chesney. The shy actress recently said the failed relationship was "the biggest personal mistake of my life."
Renee says she didn't stop to put her life into perspective and rushed into getting married. She believed it would help her sort things out during a time where everything was constantly changing around her.
She told British magazine Now, "There was no alternative but to let it go. I made the biggest personal mistake of my life. I felt a fool. I was looking for something else. I just needed to put acting aside. I needed to sit still and not to worry about the dresses and the hair and the travel and the interviews. I was going through huge life changes at the time. I wanted to stop and be a girl for a while. My marriage came during this time and it was desperately important to me. I don't want anyone to think I didn't take it seriously."
However, the Oscar-winning actress says Kenny was disapproving of her friends and wanted to have things his way. And when one of her good friends needed a place to stay after she got married, Kenny flat out said no. Thankfully Renee quickly chose to show him the door.
She added, "There was no acceptance of my life or my friends. My friend was pregnant, with her husband and young kid. She was doing up her house for the new baby."
After getting married in May 2005, Renee filed for an annulment just a few months later, citing "fraud."
