After months of speculation about Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish's relationship, the two stepped out together at the 2008 Australian in Film Breakthrough Awards. It was the first major event that they attended together as a couple.

Cornish was being honored at the awards with a Breakthrough Award. When her name was announced, Phillippe rubbed her back while she leaned against his shoulder. Throughout the evening the couple also held hands.
