It was so heartbreaking when we found out that Hollywood's most darling couple had called it quits. Many wondered what caused the break-up and what was actually happening behind closed doors. Now, we may actually have an idea.
Reese Witherspoon recently decided to set the record straight - well, kind of. Although she has not flat-out disclosed the reason behind her marriage split from Ryan Phillippe, she has alluded to one thing and denied another.
The adorable actress - who filed for divorce in October - has slammed rumors that her soon-to-be ex-husband is jealous of her career and fame. She says Ryan is in his own spotlight and has landed some major movie roles this year, including the superb and highly acclaimed "Crash."
Speaking exclusively to British OK! magazine, she said, "Ryan didn't feel threatened because I had some success. He is confident in his own abilities and doesn't equate his identity with how well his films do at the box office."
She added, "He did some interesting work, like 'Crash,' which was on a lot of critics' top ten lists and he's done a film with Clint Eastwood which will probably be a very big film. Sometimes you have to wait until you get the right roles."
However, the Southern belle has hinted to what was the demise of their marriage. Although she is not pointing the finger at Ryan, she carefully notes that the two were neglecting each other.
According to IrishExaminer.com, she said, "Love is a beautiful thing. But you've got 50 things that come during the day, like driving the kids to school, picking up the in-laws at the airport and working on a script when one of the kids has a high fever."
The couple have two kids together, Ava, seven, and Deacon, three.
