Britain's Queen Elizabeth has sent a message of support to Barack Obama. The monarch sent her good wishes in private correspondence to the new U.S. president - the 12th to lead America in her reign - but the exact words have not been released.

Since becoming queen in 1952, she has met every U.S. president apart from Lyndon Johnson.

Britain's Prince William will propose to his girlfriend Kate Middleton Friday, it has been claimed. Kate - who has been dating the 26-year-old royal for around six years - turns 27 today, and speculation William is planning to make her day extra special is rife.

U.K. bookmaker Ladbrokes has halved the odds of the pair announcing their engagement to 5/1 after it was flooded with bets. Bookmaker William Hill has also decreased its odds of the prince popping the question during 2009 from 6/4 to 1/2.

Britain's Sarah Ferguson is setting up a new company to help manage her growing business empire. The Duchess of York - who was married to Prince Andrew - is a successful author, film producer, TV presenter and jewelry designer and is desperate to start a new firm to make the day to day running of her businesses easier.

She said: "I want to bring all of my babies together and make them into a huge success."

The U.K.'s Princes William and Harry are setting up their own private office. William, 26, and Harry, 24, will have headquarters in London's St James's Palace, where their father Prince Charles held official offices until 2002.

The move represents an important step for William, 26, and Harry, 24, as it gives them more autonomy from the Prince of Wales. The princes' new venture was recently approved by Queen Elizabeth and is expected to be officially announced this week.

A source told Britain's The Daily Mail newspaper: "These London City law firms only ever interview Oxbridge graduates and, normally speaking, someone at Leeds would not get a look in."
