Britain's Prince William has invited Kate Middleton to his step-mother's 60th birthday party.
William personally asked Kate to accompany him to the bash for Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, on Saturday, indicating the prince has repaired his relationship with the 25-year-old brunette.
A source told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "Camilla was keen to invite Kate as the two have always got on well but for obvious reasons it had to be William's decision in the end."
Kate is currently enjoying a Caribbean holiday with friends but is said to be "hopeful" of returning in time for the ball at Highgrove, the Gloucestershire home Camilla shares with husband Prince Charles.
The fashion buyer and William split in April after four years together but were reunited shortly before the Concert for Diana earlier this month and are now said to be officially an item again.
Prince Harry and his girlfriend Chelsy Davy are on holiday and will not return in time for Camilla's birthday party.
The queen and other senior members of the royal family will also not attend. A Clarence House spokesman said: "It's just not a party on that scale."
A source added: "It was meant to be a rather low-key event as it is also the tenth anniversary of the Princess Diana's death."
"But the prince would never let his darling wife's landmark birthday pass without some kind of celebration and by all accounts it will be rather jolly."
Two hundred guests have been invited to black-tie ball which is being organized by Prince Charles's former valet Michael Fawcett and his events company.
If the weather is good the party will be held by candlelight in the gardens at Highgrove and will include a three-course organic dinner followed by dancing to a live band.
Celebrity guests such as Joan Rivers, Joanna Lumley, Stephen Fry, Prunella Scales and Timothy West have been invited.
