Queen Elizabeth Enters Six Horses In The Royal Ascot

Britain's Queen Elizabeth has entered six horses in this year's Royal Ascot races. The 83-year-old monarch - who is known to bet on her own equines - wore a canary yellow silk dress with a matching linen jacket and boater-style hat to the first day of prestigious annual event Tuesday.

She is expected to return to the racetrack in Berkshire, south east England, today to watch her first horse run in the Jersey Stakes.

Prince Philip Disappointed That One Of His Favorite Events Was Canceled

Britain's Prince Philip has been left disappointed after one of his favorite events was canceled due to bad weather - nine months before it was set to take place.

The annual Lowther Horse Driving Trials and Country Fair - of which the Duke of Edinburgh is patron - takes place in Cumbria, England, in August, but next year's event has been called off due to concerns the ground has been too badly effected by recent weather to recover in time.

Queen Elizabeth Throws Lavish Birthday Bash For Prince Charles

Britain's Queen Elizabeth threw a lavish birthday party for Prince Charles Thursday night. The monarch's eldest son turned 60 Friday and the queen hosted over 450 guests at Buckingham Palace to mark the landmark occasion.

The queen, husband Prince Philip, Charles, his wife the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla and his sons Princes William and Harry were joined at the bash by Charles's siblings Princess Anne and Princes Andrew and Edward, along with minor royals including Lady Sarah Chatto.

Queen Elizabeth Praises Son Prince Charles' Involvement In Charity Work

Britain's Queen Elizabeth has praised her son Prince Charles for his charity work. The monarch paid tribute to the heir to her throne as she and husband Prince Philip visited his Prince's Trust charity headquarters Wednesday to mark Charles' 60th birthday on Friday.

She said: "As the Prince of Wales, our son, approaches his own 60th birthday, may I say that we are both enormously proud to have been reminded here today of his personal contribution to this remarkable organization."
