Prince William and Harry will pay tribute to their late mother next summer without their father being present.
Prince Charles will leave his home country of Britain this summer to avoid "overshadowing" his son's Concert for Diana.
The 58-year-old prince and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, are planning a royal foreign tour to prevent speculation about whether they will attend the memorial concert on July 1, which has been organized by Princes William and Harry to mark the 10th anniversary of their mother's tragic death.
A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "Charles doesn't want to overshadow the boys' big day. There was a fear from some of his aides of too much attention focused on his attendance at the concert. It was thought best that he and Camilla find themselves aboard at the time of the concert. Plans for a foreign tour are already well under way."
The princes have asked a number of Diana's favorite artists to perform in the commemorative show at London's Wembley Stadium, including Elton John and Duran Duran.
Other artists to have been invited to take part in the show include Kylie Minogue and Madonna, while rapper Pharrell Williams and soul singer Joss Stone are confirmed to appear.
Tickets for the concert - which is held on what would have been Diana's 46th birthday - sold out in less than 20 minutes when they went on sale last month.
