Pete Wentz has been typecast as the new playboy of rock music, but he may be the industry's new bad boy.
The Fall Out Boy bassist has made headlines for allegedly beating up a fan so badly that he was left on the concert hall floor covered in blood.
The eyeliner-wearing musician reportedly reacted to the fans heckling and got physical.
A source told RollingStone.com, "When the crowd parted, you could see [Wentz] on the floor face down. Then his body guard grabbed him and hustled him out the door."
Pretty boy Pete was not impressed over comments made about his music and new girlfriend, Ashlee Simpson. During the Chicago show, sponsored by Spin magazine, Pete decided that enough was enough and went for the fan.
According to MTV News, a witness said, "A guy started calling Pete a sell-out, asking him 'Where's [girlfriend] Ashlee [Simpson]?' and making fun of his hoodie...They did their last song, walked off the stage and headed toward a side door to go out onto the sidewalk. But that's when the scuffle happened."
"The crowd surged back, then snapped forward. From my vantage point, I could see Fall Out Boy security was pounding on the guy. The guy was down on floor, shirt ripped, bleeding from ear and nose. There was a lot of blood."
Pete, however, has denied that the fight was as bad as made out to be. The star has admitted that he got physical with the concert-goer, but denies beating the guy to a pulp.
Pete responded to the claims in an e-mail, writing, "The story on the Internet is absolutely false. Yes, the guy was heckling me and the band, so were other people, most in good fun. But we get heckled onstage all the time, and while I'm a jerk, I'm not the kind of person who would ever lash out at someone simply over this. I mean I'm not as big as Akon and haven't written as many good songs."
"He grabbed me, I punched him. Yell all you want at me, say whatever, but in a situation like that I will defend myself."
Pete and Ashlee recently went public with their relationship. The singer and actress has since been on the road with the band.
