Pete Doherty wanted to kill himself when he turned 30. The Babyshambles rocker was devastated when he reached the landmark birthday in April, and got so drunk at his party he began to think he couldn't go on.

He explained: "I had this bash in Paris and it was an absolute disgrace. I just made a bit of an idiot out of myself. We had a right old knees-up. I don't even know exactly what happened but I ended up trying to throw myself off the top of the hotel. I wasn't happy at all about being 30."

Pete Doherty was arrested after he allegedly injected drugs on a flight. The Babyshambles rocker - who has battled crack cocaine and heroin addiction, but claims he has been "clean as a whistle" since he left rehab earlier this year - was allegedly found slumped in a plane toilet with a hypodermic needle during a British Airways flight from London to Geneva on Friday.

Cabin crew spent 25 minutes trying to get Pete to leave the toilet. When he finally unlocked the door, onlookers claim the star was dazed and "obviously intoxicated."

A source said: "Lily loves London but would like a bolt hole to escape to. Kate Moss, Liz Hurley and Pete Doherty all have pads in the Cotswolds, but she hit on Devon. Ilfracombe is surprisingly up and coming, plus it's on the coastline and very picturesque.

Pete Doherty has sparked speculation he has swine flu, after being pictured with Britain's first sufferer. A photo of the Babyshambles frontman with Dawn Askham - who is believed to have contracted the potentially life-threatening virus along with her husband Iain, while on their honeymoon in Mexico - has emerged showing Dawn with her arms wrapped around the rocker.

Dawn and Iain, from Scotland, returned from their holiday on April 21 and were transferred to an isolation ward in hospital on Saturday.
