Liam Gallagher is going to start a new band.

The former Oasis frontman - whose brother Noel Gallagher quit the band in August - is planning to embark on a new project in the new year without his sibling.

The former Oasis guitarist - who walked out on the group in August after a fight with his lead singer sibling - is concentrating on his own music rather than worrying about the fate of the band.

The future of the group was left hanging in the balance in August when Liam's brother, guitarist Noel Gallagher, quit the band because of arguments with his sibling.

Noel Gallagher reportedly quit Oasis because his brother Liam "jokingly suggested" he was not the father of his daughter. The singer is said to have insinuated that Noel's nine-year-old daughter Anais was conceived when the songwriter's former wife Meg Matthews was having an affair.

The slur outraged Noel, who branded it "unforgivable" and started screaming at his brother as the pair prepared to go onstage at Paris' Rock en Seine festival on Friday night.

Noel Gallagher loves Take That, Lady Gaga and Girls Aloud. The Oasis rocker has a secret penchant for the trio of pop acts, but reserved special praise for the "Back For Good" stars' current 'Circus' tour - which saw them supported by "Poker Face" singer Lady GaGa.

He said: "Take That are smashing it up with their tour. It couldn't happen to a bunch of nicer lads."

Oasis have hired former SAS soldiers as bodyguards. The group's guitarist Noel Gallagher was reportedly wary of performing live following an incident in Canada last year where he suffered cracked ribs after being attacked by a stage invader, and insisted the band draft in extra security guards ahead of their U.K. stadium shows.

A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Noel was seriously shook up after he was attacked. It was a freak moment when someone burst through and managed to get on stage. But he wanted to make sure he never had to go through that again."
