Nicole Richie's lawyer has spoken out about the drug fuelled drive that led to the starlet's arrest.
"The Simple Life" star was pulled over by police in Los Angeles in the early hours of Monday morning after driving erratically and on the wrong side of the freeway.
At the scene, witnesses say the ultra-skinny star admitted to smoking marijuana and taking vicodin before she got behind the wheel.
While her publicist initially said Richie would not be addressing the matter to the media, Paris Hilton's BFF has spoken through her attorney, Howard Weitzman, to The Showbuzz.
Mr Weitzman said that the misdemeanor would not impact the budding singer and actress's current career plans. He said, "This is a difficult time for Nicole, but she is prepared to accept whatever responsibility is appropriate. She intends to continue with her career and will deal with any other issues that need to be addressed."
This is not Richie's first brush with the law or drugs. Before finding fame on the reality series with Hilton, the LA native was arrested for drug possession and subsequently sought treatment for heroine addiction.
She has recently been in treatment for weight gain after she revealed she has difficulty gaining weight. According to police reports, the star weighs in at an alarming 85 pounds.
