By the time Nicole Richie's trial actually goes ahead, the starlet could be almost half way through her rumored pregnancy.
"The Simple Life" star was scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles court on July 11 to face DUI charges dating back to December 2006. However, her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, has won a request to delay the proceedings until August 13.
Nicole's defense team were worried that their key expert witness, Dr Terence Sean McGee, would not be present for the July date and her case would be lost. However, her request was met and the starlet has a month until she finds out her sentence.
Her lawyer wrote, "His testimony will be critical to Miss Richie's case and there is no other expert retained by the defense who can testify in this regard."
The allegedly pregnant socialite, who is currently in Canada with boyfriend Joel Madden, was arrested after she was caught driving the wrong way down an L.A. freeway. At the scene, 25-year-old Nicole reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana and taking Vicodin before getting behind the wheel.
This is Nicole's second DUI charge.
