Like many other people in the world, Nicole Richie is at a loss as to why she is famous.
While it could be the A-list events she regularly attends, the famous men she dates, her headline-grabbing friends, her coveted style or incredibly shrinking frame, Nicole admits that there is no legitimate reason for her rising fame.
Nicole, who has appeared alongside her superstar BFF Paris Hilton on "The Simple Life," told Nylon magazine, "I don't have a clue why I'm famous. I didn't make myself famous ... You're doing it. I think people just want to say, 'Oh, she doesn't have a job she doesn't do anything.' They get off on that. But I do have a job, like everyone else."
While Nicole didn't elaborate on what her job actually is, she was frank about her former drug use. The 'star' was in rehab after being arrested for heroin possession before the original premiere of her reality TV show.
She said, "I don't walk around pretending that I'm perfect, so I don't think anyone should hold me to that. The dangerous thing is that there are 16, 17, 18-year-olds that people consider to be role models. I'm so happy I wasn't famous back then. You'd think I was the f**king devil."
The-rumored-to-be-pregnant-star explained her heroin past, saying, "When I pictured heroin, I pictured some crazy crackhead with no shoes under a bridge. You never think that is going to be you. And it never was me. I was never under a bridge, and I always had shoes."
Nicole is currently dating Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden. Like Paris, she faces a Los Angeles judge on July 11 for a DUI arrest. While there probably won't be as much fan fare as Paris' sentence, the skinny starlet could face up to a year in jail.
