Roman Polanski facing extradition

Roman Polanski has been arrested and will be extradited to America.

The 76-year-old director - who fled the US to France in 1978 after being convicted of unlawful sex with a minor - was stopped by police shortly after stepping off a plane in Zurich on Saturday night (26.09.09) where he was set to pick up a lifetime achievement award at the Swiss city's film festival and now faces being sent back to the US within days.

Jordan's Queen Rania has praised her "cool" husband, King Abdullah. The queen posted a picture on her Twitter page of her husband - dressed in leather waistcoat and jeans - on his Harley Davidson, with her on the back, and asked her followers on the micro blogging site: "OK I am biased but u gotta admit my King is kinda cool, no?"

The pair are currently holidaying in Saint Tropez, where another man has also caught the queen's eye.

Carla Bruni sees herself as the successor to Britain's Princess Diana. The singer - who is the wife of French president Nicolas Sarkozy - has paid tribute to the late ex-wife of Prince Charles for the charity work she did, describing her as "remarkable."

She said: "Diana was incredible. She touched and kissed those who were infected with AIDS. She carried out extraordinary work which led to a great step forward in the fight against the epidemic."

Britain's Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall joined her husband Prince Charles, French president Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni at a Remembrance day memorial service in France yesterday.

The royal couple were greeted like old friends when they arrived at the Elysee Palace ahead of the Armistice Day commemorations - which this year marked the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War - with the president bending to kiss Camilla on the hand.
