With the new celebrity trend of giving your child an outrageous name, Nicolas Cage's son's name is nothing compared to the rest.
His son, Kal-El, was named after Clark Kent's Kryptonian name in Superman. The "City of Angels" star believes his son's unusual name is a gift many parents may also come to love and use for their future kids.
The actor admits he has always loved comic book heroes, especially the man who can fly and transform himself in a split second.
His fascination with Superman led to his desire to name his child with a unique name completely out-of-the-ordinary. However, Cage admits he doesn't understand why he has received so much flack about choosing such a special name.
According to StarPulse.com, he said, "I thought Kal-El was an unusual name that not a lot of people knew about, and stood for something good. I'll bet you within five or 10 years, there will be a lot more Kal-Els. It just happens that my son is the only one right now."
Kal-El will be celebrating his first birthday today.
