Whoopi Goldberg, according to insiders at ABC, is the best candidate to fill the chair of Rosie O'Donnell on "The View."
Goldberg - who is an Oscar, Grammy, Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe award winner - has beat out Kathy Griffin, Ricki Lake, Roseanne Barr and Gayle King, long time friend of Oprah Winfrey, as show's favorite.
A show insider tells Star magazine, "As far as everyone at ABC is concerned, she has the job. While Kathy was a strong contender, Whoopi has won everyone over. Everyone is acting like Whoopi already has the gig."
Goldberg currently hosts a radio show called "Wake Up With Whoopi," which is located in New York.
The insider goes on to say, "Whoopi has a radio show, she lives in New York City and she is an institution there.
"She also is liberal and outspoken but not crazy like Rosie was. She will be a perfect fit as far as the ladies on 'The View' are concerned."
No official announcement has been made by ABC.
Goldberg has appeared in over 80 films and made over 40 television show appearances.
