Supermodel Naomi Campbell is scheduled to appear in a New York court on Wednesday to face charges of assault after her maid accused her of allegedly throwing a cell phone at her early this year.
David Breibart, counsel for Campbell tells AFP the model will be attending Wednesday's hearing and said there would be no repeat of her last scheduled court appearance in September, where she failed to show up.
He said, "There's no question about that in my mind."
The model entered a not guilty plea at a preliminary hearing in June, when the court allowed both parties more time to reach a compromise. But the parties failed to reach a deal which allowed the court to convene a grand jury to determine final charges against Campbell.
The British supermodel is facing seven years behind bars if she's found guilty of second-degree assault.
Campbell, 36, is facing a series of assault charges. She was arrested by the New York police in March after her housekeeper, Ana Scolavino, complained the supermodel threw a mobile phone at her and accuser her of stealing a pair of jeans. Scolavino required several stitches from the wound caused by the phone-throwing incident.
Another former employee, Gaby Gibson, has filed a separate complaint against Campbell for personal injury, employment discrimination and assault.
She was arrested again by the London police in September after her drugs counselor charged her of scratching her all over her face.
In 2000, the catwalk star pleaded guilty in a Canadian court to assaulting another assistant, Georgina Galanis, while shooting a movie two years earlier.
