Norah Jones was left shocked when producers of her new movie asked her to lose weight.
The "Don't Know Why" singer - who stars in "My Blueberry Nights" alongside Jude Law and Natalie Portman - never felt overweight until faced with the producers' request.
She told Britain's Glamour magazine, "I was asked to lose a few pounds. First I got really mad, then nervous, thinking, 'Oh no! I'm fat!' "
The 27-year-old - who made an appearance as herself in 2002 comedy "Two Weeks Notice" with Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock - says she now empathizes with Hollywood actresses who are under constant pressure to be thin.
She said, "It was a horrible thing to hear but I understand the game. I was just amazed that it was really an issue, and it made me have a lot of sympathy for really skinny actresses. I think they need to eat cheeseburger!"
"My Blueberry Nights" hits the screens in June.
