Monty Python thinks it's not funny anymore. The musical Broadway play "Monty Python's Spamalot" has stopped ridiculing Britney Spears. They claim the pop star is already being "tortured to death" and they don't want to laugh at her anymore.

Pagesix.com reports that a lyric in their song "Diva's lament" has been modified to exclude Spears. They have changed it to reference Posh Spice instead because according to the song's author, Eric Idle, "We don't laugh at sad people."

"Mike Nichols (the director) requested it and he's right. We changed the lyrics in London, on tour, on Broadway and in Las Vegas. We think it's now too sad. Britney Spears is being tortured to death and we don't want to be on that side."

The changes were apparently made the time the 'Toxic' singer was released from the psychiatric unit of the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
