Actor Stanley Kamel, most recently known for his role as the psychiatrist on "Monk," has died. It is suspected that the 65-year-old actor died of a heart attack.

Kamel was reportedly discovered by his agents in his Hollywood Hills home on Tuesday afternoon. A 911 call was made from the home shortly before 4 pm and Los Angeles emergency services responded.

Kamel enjoyed an acting career that spanned almost 40 years as a TV regular. He landed his first roles in the late '60s on shows like "Mission: Impossible" and "The Mod Squad."

Over the years he starred in many popular shows including "Kojak," "Mork + Mindy," "Charlie's Angels," "Lou Grant," "Barney Miller," "Hill Street Blues" and "Knight Rider."

In recent years, the star who was born in New Jersey, appeared on TV shows such as "Monk," "The West Wing," "Six Feet Under" and "Beverly Hills, 90210."

Executives from the USA network, which airs "Monk," released a statement saying: "USA is deeply saddened by the news of Stanley Kamel's passing. Stanley was an amazingly talented and extremely kind man, and an important member of the USA family. He will be sorely missed."
