Mischa Barton may often be pictured with the likes of Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan - but that doesn't mean she is friends with them.
The former "The O.C." star wants to separate herself from the Young Hollywood crowd because she enjoys a quieter life. Despite having dated two members of the posse - Brandon Davis and Cisco Adler - Mischa insists that she is not into the superficial starlet world of partying.
The New York raised star says, "When I got there (L.A.) I didn't know anything about the business and you don't make the best of friends. You make a few mistakes when you're that age and it took me a while to find the friends I needed, to be truly comfortable. I'm a private person, you won't find more than four or five true friends around me, ever."
Mischa, who was once friends with party girl Paris Hilton, says that the image created of her is wrong. She continued, "(The tabloid persona) - it is a persona. It's not me. I think, 'Who the hell is that girl?' I'm so low-key and chilled. But the media has created a fake 'young Hollywood' where everyone hangs out together and everybody knows each other. It couldn't be further from the truth. I feel so, so different from those girls."
The actress has also been seen out on the town with former co-star Rachel Bilson. She also attended Nicole Richie's 4th of July BBQ that ended when Nicole collapsed and Mischa was rushed to hospital.
