"Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus will not be seen in the media party for the Disney Channel's "Disney Channel Games."
It would have been the young actress' first public appearance after controversy sparked on her racy photos taken for Vanity Fair that was published this week.
This made the public question her image as a role model for children.
Vanity Fair and renowned celebrity photographer Annie Leibowitz defended the shoot saying Cyrus' family approved of the images.
The young actress, however, told the public she was "embarrassed" about the pictures and apologized to the public.
According to newsday.com, Disney officials confirmed Cyrus was long scheduled to appear for the event but backed out for unconfirmed reasons.
Cyrus did appear at Disney World briefly, signing autographs and posing for pictures with some kids and the Disney mascots.
