Former 'Lost' star Michelle Rodriguez has been released from prison early.
The actress - who was jailed for violating her probation terms after her drink driving arrest in Hawaii - was let out after serving less than a day of a 60-day jail sentence.
Officials say they set the star free due to "overcrowding", however, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles attorney's office said: "Our prosecutors are not happy about it, but that is the sad reality of our jails."
Despite being released early, Rodriguez, 27, has been told she must still serve 30 days of community service and remain on probation until June 2009.
In a statement, a friend of the axed 'Lost' star, designer Anand John, said: "Michelle's happy with the way things turned out."
"She knows this wasn't a literal get-out-of-jail-free card. Michelle's taken responsibility for the past, and now she's ready to focus on her career."
Meanwhile, producers of the cult TV show say the decision to axe Rodriguez's character - Ana Lucia - had nothing to do with her arrest.
It is not the first time she has been in trouble with the law - last month she served five days in jail in Hawaii after admitting driving under the influence.
In 2004, Rodriguez pleaded no contest to several charges, including committing a hit-and-run, driving without a license and driving while under the influence.
