There's one actor who has been fighting for progress to be made with stem cell research and hopes President Bush will bring about this change, which the American public can ultimately benefit from.

Michael J. Fox has been a strong advocate of stem cell research and recently thanked political candidates who researched and supported the campaign during the midterm elections.

The actor - who has Parkinson's disease - recently spoke exclusively to "Entertainment Tonight" and expressed his hope and optimism for change in the future.

He said, "Now that the dust of the election is beginning to settle, I want to thank candidates across the political spectrum who took the time to learn about - and support - embryonic stem cell research. Diseases and disorders are a non-partisan issue that needs a bipartisan solution. When new and returning members of Congress arrive in Washington in 2007, I am hopeful that they and President Bush will look for opportunities to move beyond partisanship and serve all citizens."
