Meredith Viera is saddened by the kind of "joke" the talk show "The View" has turned out to be. Since her departure, and since the controversial frenzy that developed between Star Jones and Barbara Walters shortly after Jones made her own exit from the show, Viera has taken some time to reflect on everything that has happened.
She tells Time magazine that she has rarely watched the show since her departure in June after accepting to replace Katie Couric as co-host on NBC's "Today" show.
"I feel very sad for everything that's happened and for everybody involved. I'm proud of the work we did there, but it's not a good time in the history of that show. It's hard to watch. It sort of became a joke," said Viera.
A bitter feud erupted between Jones and Barbara Walters after Jones left the show in July where accusations were thrown back and forth as to the real reason behind the diva's sudden departure and cut from the ABC network.
Shortly before Jones left, Walters announced that comedian and former talk show host, Rosie O' Donnel would be joining the women of "The View" as a regular.
Viera explained to Time magazine that she was "not tired" of working on "The View" but she couldn't turn down the once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity with "Today."
"It's an institution. If I don't do this now, I'll probably not get offered it again," she said.
Viera will begin her first day on the hugely popular morning show on September 13.

Why don't "The Powers That Be" take The View off of the air BEFORE "Rosie" joins the show. It's a circus since Meredith left it! All the best to Meredith ( you've made a great choice in a career move ). The newest commercials with Rosie " singing " with Elisabeth and Joy are pathetic, more pathetic is Barbara saying " We're ALL "stars" " UGH ( *barfs* )

Barbara is a bigot!!!!!! Plain and Simple. For her to keep remarking about Mel Gibson ( not condoning his remarks, btw ) BUT Barbara Walters is no better than Mel for her remarks to her "guest hostess' '" ... Before she opens her BIG mouth & talk about other people, she should take at look at herself and her prejudices. She disgusts me!

People thought Star Jones was " annoying". Just wait until ROSIE joins the show. It won't be " The View" poor poor lil Elisabeth , who Barbara reduced to tears because Elisabeth has her "own" strong views and opinions on important issues that don't happen to "agree" with Joy and/or Barbara, she's made to feel as though her feelings and thoughts do not matter. Joy should do a much better job at "disguising" her disgust over Elisabeth's views on air. Joy save the DRAMA for behind the scenes. You're not that funny. One laugh does not make you a comedian! Barbara --a fake! RUN Elisabeth RUN. you've got so much artistic talent for clothing designs. That would be more beneficial to you :)

Wow . interesting comments. One of the worst days with a guest hostess was when Mon-ique was on. Barbara made comments about her children being " creatures" and also there was the comment when she and Joy joined hands and said " we stay- you'll go!"............Hopefully THEY ALL go ---------------> Elisabeth, get out while you can.
