Mariah Carey is to write and record mobile phone ringtones exclusively for Pepsi. The Grammy Award-winning singer has signed a lucrative deal to come up with tones for the Pepsi Cool Tones & Motorola Phones promotion.
The promotion is the first to offer music fans original tunes for their phones by some of the biggest names in the music industry.
Mariah is to produce 20 different tones for the promotion, and around 100ringtones will be made available by the company when the service launches.
Mariah is thrilled to be involved with the project. She said in a statement:"I had a lot of fun with this. It was a great creative outlet because musically I could do things here that I would never think to do for one of my albums. This was a great idea by Pepsi."
Mariah's first outing as the face, and voice, of the soft drink giant will start in May with a TV commercial - which will be directed by Paul Hunter, who has masterminded the videos for several of Mariah's hits.
She will also perform in an exclusive Pepsi Smash concert this summer.
