Living in Hollywood and dating Nicole Richie's ex-fiance can make a girl think about her weight.
And it has happened to Mandy Moore, the stunning singer and actress who recently admitted to suffering from depression.
The brunette beauty, who is currently appearing onscreen in "Because I Said So" with Diane Keaton, has admitted to Seventeen magazine that she has learned to come to terms with her body image.
The star said, "I'm not like a toothpick, and I never will be. I'm just a regular-looking person - and that's okay. It's taken a while to come to grips with that since it's definitely not the norm in my business. But like, who cares?"
She added, "I want to be healthy, but in an industry where you can't wear a sample size because it's like a 0 or a 2, it makes you feel bad about yourself. To go to a photo shoot, it's like, 'Ugh, God, can't you just at least get a regular size, like a 6 or 8 or something?'"
As an act of defiance against Tinsel Towns obsession with waifs, Moore appeared in her underwear in her latest film.
However, it wasn't an entirely pleasant experience for the actress.
She said, "I'm super self-conscious. What girl really feels comfortable about being on a gigantic movie screen with her butt there? Everything is in full view, but in the end, I decided just to dive right in and go for it. Why not? I'm embarrassed of it but yeah, it's over."
The 22-year-old is now turning her back on the silver screen for a moment to return to the music arena.
The "Candy" singer says she has finally been able to make the sort of music she wants.
She said, "I was very adamant about the type of record I wanted to make. I am aware enough to know I haven't had a ton of musical success - and music is my first love."
Her album, "Wild Hope," will be in stores in May.
