Madonna is starting a school a la Oprah Winfrey. The pop superstar is following the footsteps of the queen of talk show with her plans to build an all-girls' school in Africa.

The recently inducted Roll 'n Roll Hall of Famer is currently applying to found the school in Malawi, the country where she adopted her son David Banda in 2006.

The Material mom tells Elle magazine, "I'm buying land and getting permission to build a girl's school. The women will play a big role in the future and rebirth of Malawi."

Winfrey had established the exclusive for girls school Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy in South Africa. It officially opened in January 2007.
