For the first time in nearly two decades, the BRIT awards will be screened live. The new live show will be broadcast next year on a romantic holiday.

The British Phonographic Institute (BPI), which organizes the event in association with MasterCard, announced on Monday that the 2007 awards would be broadcast live on ITV on February 14.

The Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead's Thom Yorke have been nominated for the 2006 Nationwide Mercury Prize.

The 12 album shortlist, which is considered to be one of Britain's most prestigious music awards, was announced at London's Commonwealth Club on July 18 and features an eclectic mix of UK music.
