Outspoken Brit pop star Lily Allen is a famous singer, but that doesn't mean she is rich.
The "Smile" singer has blasted the media for bombarding youth with images of wealth, saying that it is overwhelming and makes many "kids" give up early.
The 21-year-old, who is no stranger to giving her opinion on any issue at hand, had revealed that she has not yet earned enough money to buy a house.
She told the BBC, "It's depressing to be young in Britain. Money is a massive issue. I've been doing what I do for a few years now and I've been paid pretty well for it, but even I'm not in a position to buy a one-bedroom flat in the city I grew up in. How much harder is it going to be for other people my age?"
Rather than investigate a new savings strategy, Allen says it is magazines selling images of style and wealth that has done the damage.
She continued, "We are bombarded with fashion mags and gossip mags with rich pop stars and Victoria Beckham's with their new handbags and kids think that's the sort of life they should have. But because these things are so unattainable, kids often give up before they've even started."
